Sadie, Sadie and the Painted Lady

Sadie is the great-grandaughter of my parent's next door neighbors, and she turned two last Saturday. Sadie's mom Amanda and I played together when we were little, so it's neat to have our kids play together now. Noah is especially enamored with her {a few days ago when she was out in the front yard he said, "Sadie's a real live girl" like maybe before then he thought she was just a doll!} They had her birthday party in the backyard and it was a ball ...

There were a bunch of toys spread out in the yard, including this rocking horse that Noah and Ava both loved (notice the exact same thrilled smile on both of their faces.) Noah wasn't a big hit in the little bouncy house - every time he would get in there and start bouncing, all the other kids would fall down!

I thought the best part of the party was the clown that came. Predictably, Noah wanted absolutely nothing to do with him and would kind of run off if he came anywhere near him. Predictably, Ava couldn't get enough of him and let him paint her face, make her a balloon flower and be his assistant while he did magic tricks. He really did a beautiful job with the face painting and I even relented and let her get a tattoo ... but only on her hand.
