A Day Away

It was nice to get away from the house today and do some fun things with the kids. Many have assured me that we aren't doing any permanent damage to them by not taking them out much while in the process of fixing up the house, but I have the ever-present mom guilt that tells me they'll need therapy later in life because of it.

In the morning, we went to the triplets' birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese. We were an hour late because for some reason I had gotten in my head that the party didn't start until 11:00; probably because it never occurred to me that a pizza place would open at 9:00 in the morning. Since Ava's not in the triplets' class at school, she wasn't invited to the party and this did not sit well with her ... but it was a good opportunity for us to explain that there can't always be an unlimited number of people at a birthday party, especially when our friends' mommies and daddies have to pay for it. {We're hoping she remembers this in about a month when she can't invite the 50 people she says she wants to her own party}.
Notice Noah is not in this picture ... he likes Chuck E. Cheese, but not so much Chuck.
Checking out what everyone got

After the party, Noah got his haircut then we headed back home so I could drop him off and pick up Ava. We went to Build-a-Bear and she got to pick out a new "friend" (as she likes to call them). Mamaw has taken Noah and Ava before, but this was my first time being there. When I first walked in I thought the prices for the animals seemed pretty reasonable ... little did I know that you CANNOT leave the place with a naked friend! No - she must have accessories! This is where they make the big bucks. Underwear, sunglasses, shoes, bows, socks, purses, etc., etc. Thankfully Ava is easy to please and was happy to leave with one reasonably priced outfit (a cute little baker's apron and oven mitt). Before we left she got to name her friend and print out a birth certificate; she named her Tara and then promptly forgot the name and asked what it was about a dozen times between the store and the parking lot.
